Artist Statement
“My artwork suggests a world where one senses a release from society and its conventionality. My imagination sets the stage for my creativity, allowing for unlimited possibilities in my finished products. Shapes, lines and patterns intrigue me, which can be seen through their repeated use in my work.
I use my process of painting as a meditative practice, where I find myself guided by repetition, shapes, and forms. My artwork traditionally starts with a single line and from there I start to create a pattern. Once my pattern is determined, I begin to intuitively create new shapes, allowing my unconscious mind to develop a form. My process is more than simply creating artwork, but what allows me to attune my inner self to the present moment. The repetitive nature of my work allows it to naturally become an introspective period in which I can examine myself, as well as reference the patterns of everyday life.
The best version of myself can be presented through my art. For me, it does not matter what I am creating, it matters that I continue exploring this process throughout my life journey. My process is as essential as the work I make because it is through this progression that art is created, as well as myself; growing from each line and each corresponding thought behind it, evolving myself simultaneously with the work.”
